In June of 2000 Mike's mom passed away after living with us for 7 years. Ashley was 8 Katy was 5 and Sarah was 2 1/2. Their MaMa had been a big part of our lives for as long as they could remember. They were so brave and young to loose someone so close. Then in July of 2000 Stanley became a member of our house and he healed our hearts with his sweet, calm, energetic personality. Mike brought him home from the Fort Worth Humane Society. The vet estimated at that time he was about one year old.
Friday morning when Mike got up to take Ashley to seminary Stanley seemed to be disoriented and was walking slowly. Mike told us to keep an eye on him throughout the day. Stanley napped in Ashley's room most of the morning, then when I checked on him at noon he was really weak, walking funny and had a really bad rubbing sound in his lungs. I called the vet but they could not see him until almost 5pm. We waited and cared for him the best we could until the appointment. After we saw the vet he thought it was probably pneumonia but it did not look good. We choose to take him home and try to nurse him back to health. I had to feed him with a syringe as he was to weak to eat. Saturday morning he seemed to be doing better but then by the afternoon he took a turn for the worst. He perked up when my dad came over and then again when Mike and the kids got back from Austin. Then Saturday night he fell asleep and did not wake up early this moring.
He will truly be missed by all of us.

I am so sad to hear about Stanley, pets are such a part of our families. I'm glad that he was able to heal your heart when you needed it most.
